Thinking about thought leadership? Think again 🧠

  So I’ve been doing a lot of thinking recently. About thought leadership. What is it, what does it do? And more importantly why should you care? According to Wikipedia it’s - an individual or firm recognised as an authority in a specific field. Also  Thought leadership is the delivery of authentic and genuine content that uses the expertise, insight, and experience of the author, with the goal of sharing that wisdom with others. Let’s break down those word though shall we. Thought  - An idea or opinion produced by thinking, or occurring suddenly in the mind. Leader  - The person who leads or commands a group, organisation, or country. So leading with thoughts. BUT (and this is the thing that REALLY rubs my rhubarb) why we do we obsess with top down thinking, why does thought leadership always seem to permeate from above?   I watched the Matrix again at the weekend and I forgot just how mind blowing that film is. For those unfamiliar with the plot I’ll break it down for ya! SPOILER ALERT Neo (Keanu Reeves) believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can answer his question -- What is the Matrix? Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), who leads him into an underworld where he meets Morpheus. They fight a brutal battle for their lives against a cadre of viciously intelligent secret agents. It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life. One of the central themes in the series (we don’t talk about the sequels so much, they sucked) is this ability to understand who you are. There is a scene in one of the later films where Neo meets the oracle (like all good heroes journeys, Neo needs a guide at this point). Above the Oracles doorway are the words Temat Nosce, Latin for - Know Thyself. Something too few of us
