Why is social media so mystifying for sales and marketing people?

  As a small boy, mysteries have always captured my imagination. And there are some mysteries that will forever evade us.  Such as. How the universe started? Who shot JFK? Is Nessy really real? What’s up with that Bermuda triangle thing? One of the things that’s always baffled me is how badly more traditional corporate sales and marketing teams misunderstand social. A widening gulf has been opening up underneath traditional sales and marketing for years. And they think by simply ignoring it that it's going to go away. It isn’t I'm afraid. Social media is here to stay. But it doesn't have to be a mystery. You see unlike the aforementioned mysteries above. The more you talk with your customers on social, the less of a mystery it becomes! And the easier it becomes to convert those conversations into commercial interaction.  The clue is in the name SOCIAL media. So BE social. Does the thought of social media keep you awake at night?

  I find myself drinking more and more coffee lately these days. I love oat milk lattes, can’t get enough of them. It’s not so much I like the taste (I do) but I’m also finding it hard to sleep at the moment. You see I have a two year old and he is still teething. So sleep is kind of a premium.  Just when I think we are settled for the night, the crying starts.  Then it’s back into his room and the inevitable cycle of calm him down/ calpol. We all drift off to sleep, we wake, then carry him ninja like into his room and try and settle him without waking. This cycle repeats itself most nights and I feel a little frazzled I’ll be honest. But I know deep down this won’t last and his final teeth are coming through.  So blissful sleep is within reach. The point is I know there is an end to this.
